Excursion to Debre Libanos – Addis Ababa
Visit to the Monastery of St. Abba Libanos. The Debre Libanos Monastery is dedicated to Saint Abba Libanos, one of the nine saints of the Ethiopian Church. The monastery is 110 km from the capital. With about 550 monks, it is considered the largest monastic community in Ethiopia. It has impressive beautiful stained-glass windows with various motifs. In addition to its religious significance, it is a delight for nature lovers. The surrounding area offers beautiful views. If you are lucky, you will meet the endemic blood-breasted baboons here. After the rainy season, the landscape is covered with flowers. September is a good month for a trip to Debre Libanos.
